Established in 1958, Tianjin University of Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TUTCM) is one of the earliest
universities of TCM in China. Tianjin is a 90-minute drive
from Beijing. The University has an excellent learning
environment with a distinguished three-thousand-member
teaching faculty and staff, as well as two affiliated
hospitals. TJUTCM is divided into four areas of study:
Medical, Science, Arts and Management. The University
offers 18 PhD programs, 27 masters programs, 16
undergraduate programs and one post-doctoral fellowship.
The Acupuncture & Moxibustion Science is a state-level
Key program. Both affiliated teaching hospitals are ranked
as First Class facilities and, together with the National Drug
Clinic Research Center, have more than 2,000 beds and
16 clinical teaching and research centers.
The First Teaching Hospital has been approved by the
state as the largest Acupuncture & Moxibustion center in
China, as well as a National Clinical Research Center
forAcupuncture & Moxibustion, and a Provincial TCM
Demonstration Hospital.  

The International University of Traditional Chinese
Medicine (IUTCM), authorized by the State Education
Committee of the People’s Republic of China, was
established in 1992 at TJUTCM, and has become the
national center for foreign students in TCM education.  
Each year more than 1000 students from 20 countries
study at the university. IUTCM has established
cooperation with universities, research and medical
institutions in over than 30 countries.
This program has been prepared with health professionals, such as doctors, teachers, students and
practitioners of TCM, in mind. Those who are not active in this area and wish to participate in this
program may do so in the capacity of observers, in order to maintain the classroom information at a
level that is commensurate with the target audience.

    The Bund is an exposition of classic European architecture and, up until 1949, was considered the Wall Street of China. Its
    Deco, Neo-Greek and Renaissance style buildings were the headquarters of the major foreign banks and firms. The Bund
    is considered to be the most famous symbol of Shanghai.

    Xin Tian Di has become a famous cultural and historic area of Shanghai. It is a pedestrian street lined with renovated
    "Shikumen" style traditional buildings. Xin Tian Di includes art galleries, cafés, bars, shops and thematic restaurants.

    The Shanghai Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine is divided into 3 parts: exposition on the history of Chinese
    Medicine; exposition on Chinese medicinal herbs; exposition on the history of the Shanghai TCM University. The exposition
    on the history of Chinese medicine, established in 1938, is the largest and oldest exhibition on TCM in China, including over
    14,000 specimens – from the Stone Age to modern times. The exposition on Chinese medicinal herbs, established in 1958,
    includes over 3,000 Chinese medicine specimens and products. The exposition of the history of the Shanghai TCM
    University, mounted in 2004, includes 7,000 items that illustrate the development of the university from its inauguration in
    1956.

TIANJIN: 12 days, 13 nights
The third largest seaport in China located 1.5 hours from Beijing, Tianjin contains over 9 former foreign
concessions, displaying a variety of foreign architecture. At the end of the first part of the Second Opium War, the
Treaties of Tianjin were signed, which opened Tianjin to foreign trade. The treaties were ratified by the Emperor
of China in 1860, and Tianjin was formally opened to the outside world. Between 1895 and 1900 Britain and
France were joined by the empires of Japan, Germany and Russia, and even by countries without other
concessions in China such as Austria-Hungary, Italy and Belgium, in establishing self-contained concessions in
Tianjin, each with its own prisons, schools, barracks and hospitals.
